Tanker Explosion- Residents of the Iju-Ishaga neighborhood in Lagos on Thursday were in a panic as a rancorous explosion rocked the area.
The incident happened at about 3:30 pm along Ajuwon road where a loaded gas tanker exploded around the Iju Hill.
According to an eyewitness, claimed that at least one person died in the explosion, at a time the nation is facing another tragedy of a tanker explosion that claimed the lives of 30 students who died in the Lokoja explosion.
No doubt, the Lagos explosion put almost 16 persons in a critical condition, while scores of buildings and many cars were destroyed, some beyond repair.
In that Lagos explosion, a fruit seller, Mrs. Maduka Lovelyn, said, “I would have died with my children.”
According to Maduka, said, her children were attending to customers when the saw a thick cloud of smoke rising a few meters from where her stall is situated.
Mrs. Maduka, thanks to her creator for the lucky escape by her and children while they flee at the first cry of “fire! fire!” by some other residents who were closer to the blast spot.
“We were scared as we saw the smoke, it was too much,” Mrs. Maduka stressed as she revealed how it took a race through marsh and mud to get her family to safety.
At the time of this report, LASEMA claimed almost a total of 23 buildings were destroyed in the blast, while 15 vehicles were left with varying degrees of dents, including 10 adult females and 20 adult males, who are in a critical condition at the General Hospital in Ikeja.
