Gov. Obaseki disqualified from contesting APC primary in Edo State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday announced that the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki stands disqualified from contesting the forthcoming governorship election in the State under the party.

Governor Obaseki and two other aspirants will not be contesting the primaries of the party which is slated to take place on June 22, 2020.

Recall that Obaseki has been having a running battle with the National Chairman of APC, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole. It was also reported that Oshiomhole’s faction of the State APC has gone ahead to endorsed, Pastor Ize-Iyamu to clinched the party’s ticket.

Recall also that the Governor has claimed that he doubts that he would get justice from the screening committee of the party.

Professor Jonathan Ayuba, who made the announcement of the disqualification in Abuja, also said that there are three aspirants who were qualified to contest the party’s primary.

The screening committee, gave some details about why the Obaseki was disqualified haven presented a National Youth Service Corps certificate where his name was not properly written. Also, according to the Committee, he presented a Higher School Certificate which was strange and nothing of such.

As it stands, Obaseki will not take part in the party’s primary election which is coming about just one week from now.

Political watchers are studying how the election of Edo will go.
